Ingredients, Recipes and Quality control are becoming standard in most restaurants.
Congratulations! So do most of your competitors! You are in a business that you nurture. You nurture your recipes, customers, staff, ingredients and the entire experience. Your patrons remember but, they have so many other nurturing hospitality professionals to choose from.
You owe it to them to fill up those seats!!! You owe it to yourself to keep the good ones by being able to give them enough hours.
Your patrons and possible new patrons are bombarded with information all day. There are also 1000's more restaurants than there once was.
Think about your patrons behavior patterns when deciding to go eat. Talking in groups, couples on the phone or in a family dynamic. Standing there talking or on the phone making plans.
They rely on their memory first. That's not what it used to be. They can usually remember 5 to 10 restaurants. You can't always make the cut in that 1 minute of conversation.
If they can't decide because their overloaded from the day and barrage of information how can your restaurant compete? It's not your food, it's what society has done to their attention.
Eventually they turn to the internet for assistance with their memory and to give them more options. Who ever is on Google, Yelp etc.. is now in the running.
If you're not setting your pride aside and being considerate of the stress and overload of information your restaurant patrons go through in a day, enough to give them some memory assistance, you will still be relying on the old 3 standards.
